Camp Stay at Balatal
The Baltal route can be completed in a day, provided one starts early. But the real fun is staying overnight. The cave shuts by 5 PM usually. Here, you can hire a tent for the night; tents here are usually pitched on the glaciers. The camp organisers put a thermal sheet over the glacial ice, two blankets on its top and there—you have your bed for the night!
The langar food here is, again, a delight and comfort. Do not step alone in the night as there is no electricity and wild animals might just be roaming around! There is a lack of mobile toilets, thus you might just want to relieve yourself before it gets too dark or cold to venture outside your tent.
After the rigorous climb and darshan, you need to hit the trek back and get back to the base. If you’re tired you can take a horse from one of the porters. Keep in mind that the descent is way tougher than the trek up, though the feeling of completing the trek is wonderful. You can take a day off at Baltal and relax in your tent. Enjoy cups full of Kahwa (a traditional Kashmiri tea made from safforn) and hog on the yummy food at one of the langars
